Breaking: A royal insider gives 15-word update on King Charles cancer battle. See more…
King Charles is heading in a “positive trajectory”, according to a Royal source giving an update on his majesty’s cancer diagnosis.
The 75-year-old monarch was diagnosed with the disease in February and has been having ongoing weekly treatment. He at first took a leave of absence from royal duties to concentrate on his recovery but later returned to a full working schedule.
The King and Queen spent the summer at Balmoral amid plans for the couple’s tour of Australia and Samoa. Ahead of the trip, an insider has given an unofficial update on his mystery cancer – and it sounds like good news. The source told MailOnline : “Health has to remain the number one priority, albeit heading in a very positive trajectory.”
Earlier this week the Queen also gave an update on her husband during a visit to the state-of-the-art Dyson Cancer Centre today, where she officially opened the building in Bath. She met with patients, staff, and supporters of the centre, which serves over 500,000 people across the South West.
During a meeting with Suzy Moon of the Macmillan Partnership, who inquired about the King’s wellbeing, the Queen reiterated, “He is doing very well.”
Camilla has been credited with holding the fort as the King and Princess of Wales both were diagnosed with cancer within weeks of each other and took a back step from royal life, while Prince William also concentrated on being by his wife’s side and looking after their three young children.
Camilla, 77, engaged in a lighthearted exchange with Paul Holdway, a 55-year-old nurse and patient undergoing a stem cell transplant to treat his blood cancer. When asked: “How are you feeling?” Mr Holdway replied: “I am feeling very tired.” In response, the Queen, with a touch of humour, remarked: “Men won’t admit it,” in a reference to her husband, Charles.
In March, Princess Kate revealed in an emotional video she had been given a cancer diagnosis and was having preventative chemotherapy following major abdominal surgery. She too has taken time away from public duties but made a triumphant return appearance at Trooping the Colour in June.
Ahead of her Trooping appearance, she released a statement in which she spoke about her recovery. “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” the princess said. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
