A source recently told the outlet that Affleck and Lopez are “waiting to announce their official split, because they want to make sure everything is seamless when they do, especially with everyone involved. Neither of them want this process to be rushed. They are treating the separation with as much grace, understanding, and gentleness as they can.”

The husband-and-wife duo have been living separate lives over the past few months, with Affleck even purchasing his own house in Los Angeles. Previous reports noted that there was a “sliver of hope” for the couple as Lopez and Affleck both continued to wear their rings amid the rumors. Now, it appears that they are just waiting to announce the split for the sake of their kids as they settle things.

“They want to make sure the kids are comfortable with the transition and where they are living, etcetera,” the insider continued. “They don’t want to make it feel like they’re pulling the rug from underneath their children. They’re making a mutual effort to ensure that this transition is as healthy and easy as possible.”

As the couple navigate this difficult time, Lopez has been having a Brat summer in Hamptons, where she recently celebrated her 55th birthday. Affleck is also reportedly feeling “hopeful” after purchasing his new place, which is closer to his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three kids: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
